Cateracts covered?

I have a funny feelin Lexi is going to get them. Vets never been worried or given conceRn but just a thought for the future.

What makes you think she'll get them?

Dunno I just have a niggling in my waters. I thought that her eyes looked milky but they were fine vet said. Now I'm just obsessed with it lol

She's still young, I doubt she'll get cataracts for a good few years yet, if at all!

Our dog is 4 yrs old and guess what... vet says she has the starting of cataracts and shes not covered with insurance company. it does make me cross going to cost 4500.00. we dont know what we can do about it any suggestions?

Is the vet saying it won't be covered or the insurance?

insurance company, because she has itchy eyes and needed drop in them,  so not covered was thinking of changing insurance companies

No she still wont be covered, our vets said insurance company we are with at present are very bad in paying out and it might be a good idea to change. apparently they look at all the treatment your dog has received in the passed from your vet and decided that her eyes are no longer covered,

The trouble is, insurance companies share info so if your current one says she isn't covered you might find a new one will say the same. Also, if your vet has already diagnosed cataracts then any new insurance company will consider them pre-existing.

Has your insurance company actually said she isn't covered, and if so, why, exactly?

Hi Im going to contact vets to see if they have written it on her records that she has starting of cataracts, the insurance company said as she has had itchy eyes that she has had treatment for, they are not covering her.

Were the itchy eyes treated by the same insurance co? If so, will your vet be able to confirm that the itching was nothing to do with cataracts? So a seperate condition? Or maybe confirm that the cataracts were the cause of the itching, and therefore an I going condition?
