Staffy Proof Bed... can anyone recommend one? Empty Staffy Proof Bed... can anyone recommend one?

Post by janemac Wed Mar 27 2013, 20:30

Hiya,
I am looking for a new bed for Max.
He has this one at the moment: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/teddy-s-faux-suede-oval-dog-bed-by-pets-at-home-13928

He has completely trashed it. He gets into it and spins round and round and round and round... ends up throwing the padded bit out and the foam sides just don't look like they should and are very saggy and shapeless.
Bought him a hard bed with a padded mattress in it (same as our other dogs) but he wimpered all night and wasn't happy in it... so that went back to the shop Rolling Eyes

He really needs something that he can snuggle into with some sort of side I think.
Can anyone recommend one before I go and buy something else?

Thanks!

Logan just sleeps on a duvet because he destroyed his bed before.

Easy to fold up and put away too.

We considered getting the same bed from pets at home but had the feeling Shéara would trash it. Although he spends most of his time on the couch we thought it best to get him a bed for his own space so we got this on...

http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/dog-beds+carriers/wilko-dog-bed-premier-traditional-medium-24in/invt/0080165

He LOVES it, he digs at it for a while but when its filled with blankets/bedding he loves getting cozy.

The bottom does come out but you can always replace it with thick blankets if needs be.

Hope this helps Smile

Yep you need to find a bed made out of stag bar Laughing

Seriously though I don't think such a thing exists , the best you can do is some good diversions like kongs and stag bars

We also got this blanket, you can cut it to size but its nice and fluffy so we left it as it was.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies.
Max hasn't actuallt chewed his bed... it's just not lasted. It's like a shapeless scraggy bit of material now Sad He lies in front of the fire mostly but when it's bedtime he goes into the utility with his 'scraggy bed'
He always chucks blankets, foam pads etc out of the bed.. and ends up lying on the very thin base... odd dog! Rolling Eyes

Hmm well the bed I mentioned cant be mishaped as the side and base are made of foam. Its still in pristine condition after been dragged about and dug at. I would highly recommend it thumbs up

Bought one of these (not got a good pic at home as we cover them in blankets)

http://www.berriewoodwholesale.co.uk/big/5408/Danish-Design-County-Waterproof-Duvet-Medium/

and also a 3peaks bed from PAH and both seem to be lasting well, plenty of blankets to make them snug Smile

Haha... Timmy has a huge plastic bed with a memory foam inner... He loves it and is in it whenever he's in the house...
Max on the other hand prefers his scraggy bed to anything else we have bought him... Maybe I'll just have to wash it again and see how it looks! He is probably really happy with it... it's just me that thinks he needs a new one!

This is what Pixee sleeps in, although they now have removable cusions, Pixees bed does not, its 15 months old now, so those are the new ones, but same make just the removable cusion, she does kind of dig it around when she gets in sometimes, other times she just jumps in rolls round in it, and she has done many wees in it when upset, or has a cold, so its been through the wash so many times too and the sides still stand. Not sure what size hers is? We cover her with a quilt when cold. She loves her smelly bed, it does need washing now, but I am waiting for the warm weather save putting it in the tumble drier, which I have many times.

We have this bed for Rocky just in a different colour. We bought it from the rescue centre shop when we collect Rocky nearly 2 1/2 years ago and still looks exactly the same as it did that day. He has never attempted to destroy it in any way. I know it's a bit pricey but we have never needed to replace it, very good value for money. Also made in the UK.

Our Taz was a bed destroyer even when he had the alternative of chewy sticks etc .
We got a big plastic bed from a car boot and put a single quilt in . We just changed the quilt cover every few wk and took the quilt to be washed once a year. He loved it and he buried his toys and bones under the quilt Big Grin

we have a matress type bed for holly and a crate with vet bedding in . She hasn't chewed it yet but there is still time lol

We tried so many beds cheap and expensive, she chewed them all and then ripped all the stuffing out over and over.
The one she has now and is so far her favorite and which she does not chew is a cardboard box. She has had it for 4 months and it's in the same condition from when we gave it to her. We got it from Costco when we went grocery shopping one day. Just goes to show you how surprising dogs can be.
