Hello, I have a 17 month old male staffy, I'm thinking of getting another dog. What would be a good idea as a playmate? Would a female be best?

yea an female would be better well if you have time for another dog

Thanks guys! I think thats the way i will go. What is a good age to introduce the female? My boy is 18 months old in 2 weeks! Hes trained, has a good understanding of the basics and few more!

You should be OK to start looking now then with your boy being 17 months  By the time you find and get one he'll be nearer to 2 years
